Why Doctor Huma Mir released Sindhi Folk Song Ho Jamalo 

Dr. Huma Mir has released Sindh's folk song 'Ho Jamalo' in his own voice on the occasion of Sindh Culture day 2021.

On 4 December 2021, renowned actress, host and author Doctor Huma Mir has released Sindh's folk song 'Ho jamalo' in her own voice in connection with Sindh Culture Day (Ekta Day) 2021.

In this regard Doctor Huma Mir says that she has sung folk song Ho Jamalo with love. People have been singing this folk song of Sindh since centuries and perform traditional dance on this song. This is the first uniqueness of this song on which people of 120 countries have danced and this is a record of this song.

Doctor Huma further said that she has written poetry of Ho Jamalo in Urdu herself while Composer Aqeel Ahmed has remade its tune.

Doctor Huma Mir says that she loves all the languages ​​of Pakistan, all the languages of Pakistan ​​are sweet and loving.

History of Ho Jamalo

Ho Jamalo is a folk of Sindh which is being sung on the events of happiness and traditional events. History of this folk song is mysterious and different historians have associated different stories with folk song “Ho Jamalo”.

The song is being mostly sung on the events of happiness and Sindhi People perform dance on this song. 

This song became famous in Pakistan 1947 after singing it by legend signer Abida Parveen. Mostly every singer of Sindh has sung this song in different events.

On the parameters of this folk song, a Punjabi folk song “Ludo Ho Jamalo pa” is also famous within Pakistan.

It is also written in some tales that folk song Ho Jamalo is associated with an area of Southern Sindh where a person Jamal Din Baloch had lived in a village. he was very brave person of his village

His enemies invaded in his territory. Jamal Din Baloch alongwith his companions competed his enemies and returned to home after success. While returning to home, ladies of his village came out for reception of Jamal Din Baloch and sung folk songs “Muhenjo khati aayo khair saan”.

Jeko Sukkur wari pull ty

As per book “History of Sukkur, Tareekh-e-Sukkur” written by Historian Rahim Dad Khan Molai Sheedi, Inauguration of Lansdowne Pillar-less Railway Bridge was arranged on 25 Mar 1889. 

After inauguration of the bridge, drivers of trains were instructed to cross trains over the bridge but all drivers refused to cross the train over the Lansdowne Bridge. they expected collapse of bridge and chance of losses due to its design and construction without pillars 

British government got information about as prisoner Jamalo Sheedi who was sentenced to death, can cross the train over Lansdowne Bridge. 

British government made an agreement with Prisoner Jamalo Sheedi that in case he would cross the train over the bridge, then his death penalty would be suspended as well as he would be given rewards.

Jamalo Sheedi crossed the train and he was pardoned as well as given rewards. 

After success of Prisoner Jamalo Sheedi, his wife and relatives had sung this folk song “Jeko Sukkur wari pull ty”


World Record of Sindhi Folk Song Ho Jamalo

A Sindhi person Umar Memon settled in England has prepared a documentary on Folk Song “Ho Jamalo”. He publicized it through BBC and intimated that Sindhi folk song “Ho Jamalo” is the first song of world, which has been performed in 120 countries.
