Senior singer and musician Zohaib Hassan has accused the team of popular drama 'Sinf-e-Ahan' of infringing copyrights for including his old song 'Dosti' in the drama without permission.

On 30 Apr 2022, Zohaib Hassan accused  the team of Sinf-e-Ahan through through a brief tweet for infringing on the copyrights of due to including his and his sister Nazia Hassan's popular song 'Dosti' in the drama.

The musician and singer wrote that when will Pakistanis finally understand the issues of copyright and intellectual property?

He also shared a link to the play in his tweet, in which his old song can be seen singing the characters of the play.

It is pertinent to mention that "Dosti" was included in 22nd episode of "Sinf-e-Ahan" aired on 23 April 2022, which was staged by Syra Yousaf and Sri Lankdan ActressYahali Tashia.

Zohaib Hassan also shared a notice issued by B&H International Company, looking after the copyright issues of his and his late sister Nazia Hassan's songs, to Sinf-e-Ahan regarding including the song 'Dosti' in 'Sinfe-Ahan' without permission.


The company also criticized the 'Sinf-e-Ahan' team. It has also been warned that Sinf-e-Ahan team could be prosecuted for copyright infringement.

Humayun Saeed, Samina Humayun, Nadeem Baig, Sana Shahnawaz and others have beeb named as parties in the notice.

Zohaib Hassan later clarified in another tweet that some people are accusing him of extorting money from Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) in the name of copyrights; but they should know that Royalties for all Nazia Hassan songs are provided to the Nazia Hassan Foundation, which helps deserving people.

It may recalled that Zohaib Hassan and Nazia Hassan had sung 'Dosti' song and Zohaib Hassan has composed its music.

"Dosti" was included in album "Young Tarana" released during 1983.
