Somy Ali was sexually abused in childhood, Raped in Teenager

 

Former Pakistani born American and Indian actress Somy Ali has revealed that she was sexually abused at the age of 5 and 9 and raped at the age of 14.

Somy Ali is one of the most popular Bollywood heroines of 1990. She made films with popular heroes of the time including Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty and Mithan Chakraborty.

Somy Ali had acted in about a dozen Bollywood films. She left the United States for India to work in films before 1990 at the age of 16.

Somy Ali was born in Karachi on 25 Mar 1965 and spent her childhood there, where she was sexually abused at an early age. Her mother Tehmina belongs to Iraq whereas, her father Madan is Pakistani. Somy Ali shifted to Florida, USA alongwith her mother and brother after studying at age of 12 years.

Somy Ali and her family moved to the United States from Karachi when she was at the age of 12, where she was "raped" in the United States at the age of 14.

Somy Ali spent a decade and a half in India and returned to the United States after 2000 to start an NGO with the name “No More Tears”.

Somy Ali's charity provides assistance to women who are victims of exploitation and harassment.

Somy Ali had a relationship with Salman Khan during her stay in India and they both lived together for many years.

But now, many years later, Somy Ali has revealed the events that happened to her in her childhood and adolescence. She revealed that she was sexually abused at the age of 5 and 9, while at the age of 14 she was raped.

In an interview with PeepingMoon, Somy Ali said that when she was sexually abused in Pakistan as a child, she told her parents but her parents told her to keep quiet.

Somy Ali said that the society of Pakistan and India is the same, where family honor is given importance.

The former actress said that she wants to write a book based on memories, but as soon as she remembers her past, she starts crying.

Somy Ali said that the matter did not end there but she was 'raped' at the age of 14 and these incidents had a profound negative effect on her life.

Somy Ali said in an interview that she set up a charity to help women who have been sexually exploited, but in the past she herself has been exploited and, most importantly, to remain silent about the oppression that has befallen her.

Somy Ali said that 10 years after the organization was formed, 3 years ago, he started talking about every injustice that happened to him and that is why today he tells the story of what happened to her in childhood and adolescence.
