Nadia Khan acquitted for allegedly mocking Sharmila Faruqui's mother
The FIA has cleared actress and host Nadia
Khan in a case of using inappropriate language for the mother of PPP Sindh
Assembly member Sharmila Faruqui.
Sharmila Faruqui had lodged a complaint
against Nadia Khan in January 2022 with FIA for insulting her mother.
Sharmila Faruqui had lodged a complaint that Nadia Khan had posted the Vlog on marriage of actress Saboor Aly on her YouTube channel. In which she also talked to Sharmila's mother.
After the video went viral, Sharmila
Faruqui called Nadia Khan's manner of talking to her mother a mockery and
lodged a complaint against her with FIA. She had also announced that she
would file a claim of Rs 500 crore against her.
Later, Nadia Khan denied Sharmila
Faruqui's allegations and said that she respects the mother of Sindh Assembly
member, but she did not know why the politician felt bad.
Nadia Khan had also announced retaliatory legal action against Sharmila Farooqi and hinted at criminal action against the
Sindh Assembly member.
However, now FIA has completed the
investigation and cleared actress Nadia Khan.
Imran Riaz, head of the FIA's Sindh
Criminal Division, posted a short video on Instagram account confirming that the
Federal Investigation Agency has acquitted Nadia Khan.
He said that Nadia Khan made a 40 minute
video of actress Saboor Aly's wedding which also included comments from Sharmila
Faruqui's mother.
According to Imran Riaz, after watching
the full video and completing the investigation, FIA came to the
conclusion that Nadia Khan did not use inappropriate words or ridicule.
He confirmed that FIA has acquitted
Nadia Khan in a contempt of court case brought by Sharmila Faruqui.
At the same time, he clarified that
Pakistani law is silent regarding Nadia Khan's tone and her intentions. No
one's intentions and tone can be determined by law.
Nadia Khan also shared the video of Imran
Riaz and thanked him for being acquitted.
Nadia Khan also thanked FIA chief
for conducting an impartial investigation, including cyber crimes branch.
The actress and hostess also described Imran Riaz as an impartial and honest officer. On the other hand, Sharmila Faruqui did not immediately issue a statement on FIA's announcement.
