Controversy emerged between Sindhi singer and Coke studio musician over 'To Jhoom'
A young singer from Sindh province has
claimed that lyrics of song “Tu Jhoom” released in Coke Studio Season 14 have
been stolen from lyrics of her unreleased song.
Legendary singers Abida Parveen and
Naseebo Lal have sung the Song 'Tu Jhoom' in Coke Studio Season 14. Poet Adnan
Dhol has written the said song while its lyrics have been composed by Zulfiqar
Khan aka Zulfi who is also the producer of 'Coke Studio Season 14'.
A Young Singer Nirmala Maghani belonging
to District Umerkot has claimed after six days releasing of song 'Tu Jhoom' has
claimed that half of song’s tune has been copied from her lyrics by Coke Studio.
Nirmala Maghani, while talking to YouTube
Channel “Soch”, claimed that Zulfi and Cook Studios has stolen the lyrics of
the song which she had sent to Zulfi as sample.
Nirmala Maghani also claimed through her
tweets that she had sent her tune to the producer of Coke Studio during June
2021 but she was not answered and now 'Tu Jhoom' has been made in the style of
her own tune.

The Sindhi singer claimed that she first
contacted Coke Studio producer Zulfi on phone during June 2021 for a chance in
Coke Studio and sent him sample of the lyrics through WhatsApp. Musician Zulfi also
saw her message but he did not give any reply.
Singer Nirmala Maghani also shared video
of sample lyrics and WhatsApp chat with Zulfi claiming half of the lyrics of song
'Tu Jhoom' copied from her lyrics.

After claim by Nirmala Maghani, Producer Zulfi
while talking to 'Express Tribune' denied the allegations by Sindhi singer and
claimed that all the songs of Cook Studio are based on original lyrics.
Zulfi also acknowledged that various singers
and musicians from all over Pakistan had sent him samples of their work and they
desired to work with Coke Studio, for which he thanked musicians and singers across
the country.
Coke Studio producer claimed that he has
not copied the tune of any other musician or singer and all the songs in Coke
Studio are based on his own lyrics.
In his explanatory statement, Zulfi expressed
hope that he would work with talented singers like Nirmala Maghani in future.
Express Tribune has said in the report that
the matter will probably be resolved through some transactions between the both
parties as Singer Nirmala Maghani has also pointed out for legal action.
As per sources, various musicians and singers have mobilized for reconciliation between the both parties and it is is possible that the matter will be settled amicably before a legal action breaks out between them.
On the other hand, Former producer of Coke
Studio Rohail Hayat has said through a tweet that Nirmala Maghani's sample and
'Tu Jhoom' are the same kind of 'lyrics. Usually the melody of 'song' sounds
similar to each other or sometimes even identical.
Similarly, other musicians have the same
idea that sometimes the lyrics of the songs are similar to each other.

It is pertinent to mention that some songs
of Coke Studio have also been accused of plagiarism and copyright offenses last
year prior to this controversy. Since, Coke Studio had then removed the songs
from YouTube.
Coke Studio initially gained fame for
allowing musicians and singers from different regions, languages and regions
to perform together, including re-inventing old songs.
