Woman confesses to remaining silent against R. Kelly in exchange for money
A woman who appeared during the ongoing
rape and sexual abuse trial against 54 years American pop star Robert Sylvester
Kelly (R. Kelly), has admitted that she
agreed to be quiet on the singer's activities in exchange for money from
R.Kelly.
According to Reuters, a woman namely Kate
admitted during the trial held on 18 August 2021 that she had agreed to remain
silent with R. Kelly in exchange for money.
The Lady confessed that she met the
singer in the age of 27 year and contracted a sexually transmitted disease
(itch) during her relationship with R. Kelly.
The prosecutors told the court about the
lady that Kate was not already suffering from the disease like itching. But R.
Kelly made her sick and later paid him handsome amount to be quiet. The lady
said that it was agreed between R. Kelly and her during 2004 to remain silent by
the lady against US $ 200000. Therefore, lady kept all the allegations against
the singer to her.
The lady also revealed during the trial
that R. Kelly's attitude towards her was different from other women. She was
allowed to do whatever she wanted at all times and was not pressured to talk to
other men.
Earlier, all the women had told the court
that they would be kept as prisoners. They also had to ask permission to use
the washroom when the singers would not let them talk to other men.
According to Reuters, Kate is not among
the women who have been charged in court with rape and sexual abuse. But she
was appeared to record her statement to prove that R. Kelly had a scabies-like
illness and that she had infected other women with it.
As per Associated Press (AP), the woman
told the court that though she had made agreed with R. Kelly to remain silent
in exchange for money but the singer's attitude towards her was not so bad.
Since, formal trial against singer R. Kelly
started on a total of 22 criminal cases, including rape and sexual abuse of 2
minor boys and 11 girls, are pending in the court against R. Kelly and so far
half a dozen people have appeared in court against him.
The formal trial against R. Kelly began
on August 18. On the first day, a 28-year-old woman had recorded a statement
against him.
As of August 26, three women had recorded
statements against R. Kelly, while on August 31, a man and a woman had made
statements against them.
In the same trial, on September 4, a
woman named Kate appeared in court against him, who admitted that he had
entered into an agreement with R. Kelly in exchange for money.
So far, five victims, including a man,
have appeared in court against R. Kelly. Two of the women have also accused him
of contracting a sexually transmitted disease during sex.
R. Kelly has denied all the allegations
and claimed that all the victims were making false claims about their
relationship with him.
R. Kelly, who is detained in jail for the last
two years and he has denied all charges against him.
If he is convicted, he will face upto 10
to 20 years imprisonment and a fine.
