Legend Politician Sardar Sherbaz Khan Died at Karachi

 

Sardar Sherbaz Khan Mazari son of Mir Murad Baksh Khan Jamali born on 6 October 1930 at Rojhan Jamali of Balochistan Province. His father was Chief of Jamali Tribe which was succeeded by his brother Mir Balakh Sher Mazari. He was just of one year, when his mother expired and father died during his age of 2 years since, his two brothers and three sisters took care of him. He acquired his education from Atichison College Lahore till independence of Pakistan in 1947 later he studied in Royal Indian Military College Dera Doon.

Sardar Sherbaz Khan Mazari started his political career in support of Mohatrama Fatima Jinnah, against General Ayub Khan during Presidential elections in 1964. He was elected as member of National Assembly as independent candidate during general elections 1970 (which led to separation of Bangladesh). He was an important person in passing of constitution of 1973, as head of independent group in National Assembly. Sherbaz Khan Mazari was counted in some politician who opposed military action against Bangladesh.

Nevertheless he was once friend of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and a signatory person to Pass Constitution of 1973, Sardar Sherbaz Khan Mazari opposed PPP’s activities in his native province i.e. Balochistan and founded his own party National Democratic Party (NDP) to fill up vacuum created after banning on National Awami Party (NAP). He led the opposition in the National Assembly after establishment of National Democratic Party till 5 July 1977. He remained active in politics after 5 July 1977 coup which resulted into to ouster Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Though, he faced many challenges during his political career.

Sardar Sher Khan Mazari was loving and devoted persons, sternly dedicated to his country. He was loyal to his friends and followers. He has commanded respect for his unwavering integrity. He was respected very much in his tribe due to his sense of his justice and resolving tribal conflicts.

He had written a book on his memories and biography “Pakistan: A Journey to Disillusionment” which was very expressed by Pakistanis within the country as well as abroad and most in sighted.

He was brother of Ex Care Taker Prime Minister Mir Balakh Sher Mazari as well as brother in law of Baloch National Leader and Founder of Jamhoori Watan Party Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Recent, he is was not so active in politics due to his old age and ailing condition. He expired on 5 December 2020 (Saturday) in age of 90 years age at Karachi. Many politician leaders and important persons including CM Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, CM Balochistan Jam Kamal expressed sorrow and posted condolence messages through Twitter and other social media tools on his death. He will be laid to rest in Rojhan Jamali at his ancestral graveyard.
