PTA Approaches Google Inc and Wikipedia for removal of Objectionable Contents About Islam.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority
(PTA) has issued a press release stating that there were complaints by
Pakistani regarding "distorted search results related with 'present
khalifa of Islam' and fabricated version of Holy Quran uploaded by Ahmedi group
on Google Play Store".
In response to the complaint, PTA
approached Google Inc with the instructions to remove the unlawful contents
immediately being a very serious matter.
Pakistan Telecommunication has issued
notice under the Rule Removal & Blocking of Unlawful Online Contents
(Procedure, Oversight and Safeguard) Rules of 2020 which given permission for
removal of violating contents in order to avoid any legal action by regulator.
Pakistan Telecommunication authority
further added that the department has also received complaints were regarding presenting
improper exaggerations of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and propagation
of "ambiguous, incorrect, deceptive and deceiving information through
articles published on Wikipedia.org depicting Mirza Masroor Ahmad as a Muslim.
PTA further intimated that Wikipedia has
finally agreed to remove the offensive continents after prolonged and authenticated
correspondence on this matter.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has
further intimated through press release that PTA shall be constrained for
initiating further legal action under Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act
2016 (PECA) in case the both the
platforms do not take any compliant action.
Secretary School Education gives
undertaking before Lahore High Court for Enforcement of Punjab Compulsory
Teaching of Holy Quran Act 2018 from Next Academic Year.

Education Department has given an undertaking before a two-judge bench held on
Thursday, 25 December 2020, in connection with an petition for giving directions
to government to adopt possible steps to enable Muslims, in order to survive their lives in as per the basic
rules of and perceptions of Islam and Hazrat Muhammad SAW. These rules and teaching
books will be effective from next academic year.
Secretary Education Department also suggested
the court that to issue a notification having instructions that no private or
public education institution shall suggest any book or reading material without
getting formal approval from government.
Doctor Sohail Shahzad said that efforts
will also be made to eradicate all offensive and irrelative material, belittling
remarks, or ambiguous information related to history, ideology, idols of country
and Islam from books which were being taught in any educational institution.
Lawyers of the parties showed their satisfaction
on the statements of government officials.
Two-bench comprising of Justice Chaudhary
Muhammad Iqbal and Justice Shahid Waheed instructed the defendants to submit compliance
report before the commencement of next academic year.
Lt Gen (Retired) Akram Khan, Chairman of Punjab Curriculum & Text book Board (PCTB) also briefed to the judges that steps will be taken that books in any educational institute not contain any aggressive contents about teachings of Holy Quran and Sunnah, ideology of Islam.
