He added that when everyone knows that coronavirus is spreading then rallies can be staged after two or three months to save people’s lives.

PM Imran Khan said that he was not terrified of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)’s rallies but such movements would be reason for spread of coronavirus during second wave of disease.

He said that 64% of beds allocated for COVID 19 patients are now occupied in Multan where PDM staged rally on 1 December 2020.

When people gather at one place, the virus spreads and after some time like approximately a week or ten days, people will begin seeing patients of coronavirus at hospitals.”

He said 40 beds allotted for corona patients were engaged in Peshawar where 11-party opposition alliance had held a public meeting on 22 November 2020.

Prime Minister Khan said that 50pc of beds were busy in Islamabad. Average for coronavirus patients’ beds currently occupied is around 40% that means COVID-19 cases are spreading. He warned that in start of winter, it would become more challenging to restrict extent of coronavirus. He feared if virus spreads at current rate during second wave then hospital will fill up and he urged that this is time to adopt precautionary measures and follow SOPs (standard operating procedures) and wear face masks.

He added that in colder months, people sit together around the heaters warranting chances for spread of virus as disease spreads more speedily in indoor locations than open areas.

Mr Khan added that entire world is facing problems for implementing of SOPs during second wave of virus spread as in Europe; people are resisting as they have tired.
