Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah

 

Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah son of Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah born on 20 April 1952 in Sukkur.  He got his qualification from Government Islamia Science College Sukkur.  He also got his MA (History) and LLB degrees from Islamia College Sukkur during the years 1974 and 1978 respectively. Initially he got employed as complaint reader in WAPDA Sukkur and during 1970 later employed as meter reader WAPDA, but he left his job and started contractor business.

He remained as president of student’s federation during student life. He first contested in general elections on sindh provincial assembly ticket from the platform of Pakistan Peoples Party during general elections of 1988 and appointed as Minister of Finance Sindh and Provincial Minister for Education. He became as member of national assembly for the first time during general elections 1990 as well as became member of national assembly during general elections 1993. He was also appointed as federal minister for education during general elections 1993.  He was also successful member  of national assembly during general elections 2002. During 2008 general elections he became member of national for the fifth time and appointed minister for Labours and Overseas Pakistanis.

His name was also produced as Caretaker Prime Minister before general elections 2013. He also elected as member of national assembly during general elections 2013 and was appointed opposition of leader in national assembly. He also remained as chairman of public accounts committee in National Assembly. During general elections of 2018, he was elected again as member of national assembly and nominated for polling in speaker of National assembly. He lost this polling after getting 146 votes within national assembly is a Pakistani politician and Asad Qaiser won the polling after getting 176 for becoming speaker of national assembly.  

Khursheed Shah have made millions of assets after stepping in politics, therefore is under inquiry by National Accounts Bauru due to having assets more than income. Subsequently, he was arrested by National Accounts Bauru during September 2019 from Rawalpindi and case was shifted to Sukkur NAB Office. However, due to his ailing conditions, he was kept under observation at NICVD Sukkur.

He had two brothers i.e Ali Nawaz Shah and Syed Mujtaba Shah out which Ali Nawaz Shah had expired during 2012/12. Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah has one son Syed Farukh Ahmed Shah.
