PUMHSW Student Harassment Case, Sindh High Court has written letter to DIG, SSP and DC Nawabshah, Administration Officer of PUMHSW University
Sindh High Court has directed the senior
officers of district Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah) to appear before Chief
Justice with reports of alleged violence against a house officer of People's
University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women.
As per reports, Sindh High Court
registrar Abdul Razzaq instructed through a letter to police and local administration
authorities of Shaheed Benazirabad on media reports regarding the alleged
torture and harassment to house officer Parveen Rind by three university
officials.
Sindh High Court directed DIG, SSP and Deputy
Commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad and Registrar of the University to appear
before Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh on 15 February 2022 with relevant
reports.
Civil Society Protests
Activists of various political parties
and civil society organizations staged rallies in different areas of Dadu,
Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad and Naushahro Feroze districts on 12 Feb 2022 to
show solidarity with Parveen Rind. The protester demanded for action against the
persons, who allegedly harassed and tried to murder Parveen Rind.
Demonstrators also demanded to arrest those
persons, who allegedly blackmailed medical students Nimrata Chandani and Noshin
Kazmi, since they forced to commit suicide in hostel rooms during 2019 and
2021, respectively.
A large rally was organized in Town Johi,
two rallies were held in Mehar Town and three rallies were held in Khairpur
Nathan Shah towns of District Dadu.
Participants of rally held in Dadu also
demanded to remove vice-chancellors of all medical universities of Nawabshah
and Larkana due to failing in safety of their students.
Parveen Rind is being pressurized to withdraw the case
Earlier, Parveen Rind said during press
conference that she is under constant pressure to withdraw the FIR registered
against three officials of the People's University of Medical and Health
Sciences for Women.
She further said the alleged persons have
the support and protection of the university administration and local political
figures. She added that the police do not dare to take action against accused persons nominated in
the FIR registered under harassment and attempt to murder.
Parveen Rind further claimed that
harassment of female students of medical universities in Sindh has become very
common but only a few cases are being highlighted in the media.
