Aamir Liaquat Hussain, PTI MNA Alleges Traffic Police for Bribe

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA, TV host Aamir Liaquat Hussain shared a video accusing the traffic police of taking bribes. According to the traffic police, the assembly member insulted the officials and leveled allegations against them.

Yesterday, Aamir Liaquat shared a video on his various social media accounts in which he was seen angry at a traffic policeman.

Aamir Liaqat had written in the caption of the video that "I will not allow police bullying in my constituency. They were stopping the people and asking for money. Their mouths are open in the lockdown." Many traffic police and police personnel have been intercepted throughout the day.

The post received mixed reactions from social media users, with some calling Amir Liaqat correct and others calling it an insult to traffic police officer.

Later, an explanatory statement was issued by SP Traffic East Karachi on the issue.

The statement said that Chief Constable Syed Yasir Abbas was on duty at Ferozeabad Traffic Section at around 4:32 pm last (Monday). Meanwhile, a vehicle number BD-9930 with three occupants stopped.

"One of them told the chief constable, 'You know I am Amir Liaqat, MNA of the area’ the statement said. The man accused you of harassing people, extorting money from them and at the same time insulting them.

According to the statement of the traffic police, record keeper Shahid Miran also came on the spot. When he saw the noisy situation, he asked Amir Liaqat what had happened. Amir Liaqat also used very rude and dirty language for them, insulted them and asked them to follow the SOPs. When the record keeper showed him the Corona vaccination card, he objected and left.

A statement from SP Traffic East Karachi said, "There is another incident associated with the incident. That the traffic police speed cars had stopped 3 motorcyclists at the nursery bridge at 4.30 pm for violating SOPs.

The statement said, "The motorcyclist first showed the challan of the Tariq Road traffic section on which Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ashraf let the motorcyclists go."

It was further stated that a car number BD-9930 with 3 occupants came to a halt from behind. In which a man started punching on the trunk of government vehicle and showed himself as MNA Amir Liaqat. When the officer tried to get out of the vehicle, he and his accomplices punched, pushed and prevented him from getting out of the vehicle.

He further added, "We have been insulted by various allegations and told to get out of the area or I will fire you." On which the said officer worked patiently and the said persons proceeded.

However, Aamir Liaquat shared another video calling the statement as false.

In the caption of the video, Aamir Liaquat wrote, "Look, the car passed smoothly and I kept saying, 'The official was grabbing the money and put it in his pocket.' But, the official is saying that this is not the vehicle of this area, this is what he said, it is the government of Imran Khan and not of Murad Ali Shah.
