Legend Sindhi Actress Roshan who even today being remembered in Sindh
Actress Roshan Atta daughter of Agha Dil Murad born
during 1940 in a Village Sultan of District Shikarpur. Her mother Doctress Feroze Jan expired during
1990. Her whole family alongwith her had shifted to Saudi Arabia and lived
there for six years. After returning from Saudi Arabia family of Roshan Atta
settled at Hyderabad, where Roshan resumed her qualification. Roshan Atta had
married with her maternal cousin Atta Muhammad during 1958. Roshan Atta had
born eight kids however, five kids could not survive and currently living three
kids out which her one daughter Shugfta is also associated with Showbiz and performs on Pakistan Television.
Roshan Atta had keen interest in acting
since teenager since, she shifted to Karachi. She also performed on stage as
well as written some plays. Moreover, she directed some dramas. On starting of
private TV channels, Roshan Atta had also produced some dramas but she later
given up production uncompleted. She also performed in Sindhi films which
include, Faislo Zameer jo, Dharti Dil waran ji, Dharti Laal kunwar, Dharti ain
Akash, Hazir Sain, Ratt ain Ajrak, Umdeed, Full Machi, Phull Machi, Morakh and many more.
Roshan Atta has performed in many plays
of Sindhi language. Her famous Sindhi dramas are Gamoon Sachar, Ghar Paati,
Aas, Zindagi Olra. The actress had also performed in Urdu dramas which include
Jungle, Marvi, Choti si Duniya.
She has performed with Legend actresses
Mumtaz Kanwal, Shahzadi, Qamar Un Nisa Hakro, while she mostly performed with actors
Noor Muhammad Lashari, Anwar Solangi and Yaqoob Zakria.
She was always struggling for the welfare
of actors’ community and was taking leading role during different protests and
rallies by showbiz community. The
actress had always assisted junior artists and encouraged them for better
developments.
Roshan Atta was awarded Life Time
Achievement Award from PTV.
Roshan Atta expired on 30 March 2011 at
the age of 71 years due to prolonged illness.
