Murtaza Baloch


       Haji Ghulam Murtaza Baloch s/o Muhammad Yousuf Baloch born on 4 Aug 1964 in Malir, Karachi. He was permanently resident of Village Haji Faqeer Muhammad, Gadap Malir, Union Council Gadap and presently living in DOHS, Phase I, Malir Cantt, Karachi. He was landlord as well as politician affiliated with PPP. He had B.Com from Karachi University. He had two wives and eight children.
He remained Nazim of Gadap town twice in Gen Pervez Musharaf Government. Murtaza Baloch became MPA in general elections 2013 after defeating MQM candidate on Malir constituency.
During general elections  2018, he not only struggled for winning his own seat ie PS-88 seat as well as being a Malir District president of PPP, he engaged himself as  focal person for winning other members of party in Sindh especially in Karachi. He won his seat  i.e PS 88 (Malir I) after getting 22561 votes whereas, his opponent Rizwan Ahmed of TPL stood second after getting 7694 votes.
 Murtaza Baloch was liked very much by PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto and he said about Murtaza Baloch that Baloch was an actual jiyala who remained with party in every difficult time. Keeping in view his struggles, he was given the Katchi Abadis' portfolio and which was later renamed Human Settlements portfolio as well as he was given ministry of Labour and Human Resources.
His tests for COVID 19 became positive on 14 May 2020 therefore he was admitted in a private hospital on begging of severe respiratory distress. Murtaza Baloch was in the isolation ward for 2 or 3 days then he was shifted to intensive care unit and later put on a ventilator. His condition got improved therefore he was removed from ventilator being recovered from disease and was shifted to ward. However, his condition became worsen again and he expired on 2 Jun 2020. Murtaza Baloch was already diabetic and heart patient and he had undertaken angiography some time ago.
