MAKHDOOM MUHAMMAD AMIN FAHIM (LATE)
Makhdoom Muhammad Amin Fahim was a Pakistani politician, spiritual leader and poet. He played an important role in the construction and development of the Pakistan People's Party. He born on 4 August 1939, in Hala, Matiari District, Hyderabad. He subsequently rose to the position of Senior Vice Chairman of Pakistan People's Party. He was the eldest son and successor of the Makhdoom Talib ul Moula. Makhdoom Amin Fahim received his elementary education from Hala and passed Matriculation from Hala High School in 1957.
In 1958, Makhdoom Amin Fahim received his BS Honors in Political Science from the University of Sindh. Makhdoom Amin Fahim stepped into PPP politics during the 1970 general elections and succeeded in Thatta and became a member of the Sindh Assembly. Makhdoom Amin successfully crossed eight electoral stages and lost unbeaten. He was a member of the National Assembly eight consecutive terms from 1977, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1997, 2002, 2008 and 2013.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim was led by Nusrat Bhutto under the leadership of General Zia-ul-Haq.  Three times before Musharraf, he was offered the prime minister three times in the 1988, 1990 & 1993, which he did not accept. Makhdoom Amin Fahim continued to serve as Federal Minister in both the governments of Benazir Bhutto. From 1988 to August 1990, he was Minister of Information. Prior to this, the Ministry of Railways was responsible from December 1988 to March 1989. From January 1994 to November 1996, he was the Minister of Housing and Works. In November 2008, Makhdoom Amin Fahim was given the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
As spiritual leader of Makhdoom Amin Fahim "Sarwari Jamaat" Makhdoom Amin Fahim has millions of devotees worldwide. Makhdoom Amin Fahim was a special devotee of poetry, besides politics. He used to say, that he was fan of Maulana Rumi, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and Sachal Sarmast. He had said that their poetry had a profound impact on his life and he had learned love and loyalty from their poetry. He died on 21 Nov 2015 at a private hospital in Karachi due to blood cancer at the age of 76 years.
