Pakistan Telecommunications Authority has directed social media site Twitter management for blocking or removing insulting tweets and trends against the higher judiciary persons / departments on immediate basis.
PTA has said Twitter management that the
presence of these contents and trends does not fall under the classification of
freedom of expression. Therefore, it should be removed immediately.
Social media platform has also been instructed
to take effective and prompt action on PTA requests to remove illegal and hurtful
online contents to avoid legal action.

It has been shown in the statement that PTA
was committed to supporting and facilitating digital platforms as long as adhered
to the country's laws.
It is pertinent to mention that insulting
tweets regarding high judiciary were seen on Twitter yesterday.
Even before, PTA has repeatedly instructed
different various social media platforms to remove offensive, abusive and
immoral contents.
