Senior PPP leader and Senator Rehman Malik expired at the age of 70 due to corona virus infection
Former federal
minister had been suffering from COVID 19 since, he remained on ventilator till
his death.
Rehman Malik was
facing difficulty in breathing since, he was shifted to a private hospital of Islamabad
whereas he was placed on a ventilator but succumbed to the disease.
As per doctors, lungs
of Rehman Malik were infected with the COVID. His dead body has been shifted to
home while funeral prayers and burial ceremony of the deceased will be
announced later.

Malik has left a widow and two sons in his heirs.
It is highlighted
that Senator Rehman Malik had remained Federal Interior Minister of Home
Affairs during PPP regime from 2008 to 2013 under the Former Primer Minister
Yousaf Raza Gillani and President Asif Ali Zardari.
Rehman Malik was born on 12 Dec 1951. He was appointed in FIA during 1980, and appointed as Additional Director General in the
agency during 1993 on the recommendation of former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and served on said seat till 1996. He performed successfully in operation
against terrorists in Pakistan as well as abroad during his appointment as
Additional Director General.
Later, he moved to
United Kingdom and started his political activities from PPP Platform. Rehman
Malik remained Chief of Security of Shaheed Benzir Bhutto from 2004 to 2007.
PPP leader Rehman
Malik was one of the trusted associates of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, who played
an important role in the Charter of Democracy between PPP and PML-N. Rehman Malik also acted his major role in reconciliation between PPP and MQM at
Karachi.
Late Rehman Malik
was awarded an honorary degree of PhD by Karachi University, while government of
Pakistan also awarded him Sitara-e-Shujaat and Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his
outstanding performance.
