Faryal Talpur

Faryal Talpur daughter of Hakim Ali Zardari and sister of ex president Asif Ali Zardari born on 26 April 1958 is politician. Their Father Father Hakim Ali Zardari chief of Zardari tribe in district Nawabshah and was also prominent politician in the district. Faryal Talpur herself had remained member of national assembly since 2008 to May 2018.

She is married with Mir Munawar Talpur. Talpurs are also a family of Baloch like Zardari who are settled in Sindh since many generations and speak Sindhi instead of Balochi. This tribe is also a landlord family. Faryal and Munawar Talpur had one son and one daughter. Their son committed suicide in nineteen age. Due to this heartache, Munawar Talpur never really recovered himself from this incident. As per reports, they had also adopted a child from an Afghan refugee camp, but later passed off the six-year old child as their own, as it was considered "un-islamic". Faryal Talpur is depicted as tough and stubborn women.  

She started politics from 1990s by contesting on National Assembly seat  (NA-160) from Nawabshah through PPP platform during GE-1997 but could not win from PML-N contestant at NA-160. She became Nazim of Nawabshah district in local bodies elections during 2001. She became mayor of Nawabshah during in local bodies elections during 2005.

On assassination of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto in Dec 2007,  Faryal Talpur managed to become legal guardian of kids of Benazir Bhutto i.e Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto Zardari and also custodian of property of Bhutto in Larkana. Faryal Talpur was also considered to become candidate of PPP for President in 2007.

She could not contest GE-2008 due to holding mayorship of Nawabshah. However, she became MNA for the first time during by-elections conducted on NA-207 (Larkana-cum-Shikarpur-cum-Kambar Shahdadkot), where elections were withhold due to assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Though, she was central president of PPP (women wing) but she had looked after all affairs of PPP and considered to be the most powerful figure in the party

As per a Wikileaks diplomatic cables leak during Nov 2010, due to fearing attempts on his life, ex President Asif Ali Zardari informed ambassador Anne W. Patterson that Asif Ali Zardari had instructed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to appoint his sister Faryal Talpur as President in case of his assassination. These wikileaks cable also submit remarks made by General Ashfaq Kayani, who had said that Faryal Talpur "would be better president" than Asif Zardari.

Faryal Talpur became MPA during GE-2018 from PS-10 (Larkana-1). Currently, she Member of  Public Accounts Committee, Standing Committee on Energy, Standing Committee on Home (Chairperson), Standing Committee on Works & Services.

FIA carried out investigation to dig out cases pertaining to money laundering through fake accounts which resulted in arrest of Falpur Talpur by NAB officials on 14 Jun 2019 at Islamabad. PPP alleged government her arrested for targeting opposition. However, she applied for bail till finalization of trail for taking care of her differently abled child. Resultantly, she granted bail on 17 Dec 2019.
